Implementing the New AASL Standards

At the 2009 New England School Library Association Leadership Conference (3/28/2009), participants teamed to develop lessons that incorporate the AASL Standards for the 21st-Century Learner into elementary, middle, and high school content area curricula.

In addition, Region 1 Affiliate Association leaders and members met as teams to begin the development of customized plans based on Learning 4 Life (L4L) AASL's national plan to implement the Standards for the 21st-Century Learner and Empowering Learners: Guidelines for School Library Media Programs (new) in order to increase awareness and understanding of the learning standards and guidelines and create a committed group of stakeholders with a shared voice.

Action Examples (Lesson Plans):

Elementary School (Grades K-4)

Middle School (Grades 5-8)

High School (Grades 9-12)

I really enjoyed the CASL/CECA pre-conference workshop and was looking forward to seeing the lesson plan models for high school. Unfortunately, they don't seem to be posted. I'd like to see them when they are ready.
